Sarah, Andrew, and Liliana's HypnoBirthing Story
A beautiful birth story shared, with permission, from a previous student. This may not seem like the "natural, crunchy, hypnobirthing story" our practice sometimes gets the rep for. Hypnobirthing is for all families, birth and delivery types. Especially those that don't go quite as planned, but result in a very happy family because of their practice, preparation, and knowledge they receive from class. Enjoy!
"I can’t tell you how much your email meant to me! That same day, after two different ultra sounds and a none stress test, my doctor highly recommended induction. Baby girls diagram wasn’t showing movement in the ultrasound after viewing for 45 minutes. And non stress test was 8/10 for heart rate.
I was so nervous, but Andrew and I were ready to focus on breathing and positivity and speaking to our baby. He read through that “come on out” script for me and that was just what I needed to hear at the time to focus. I labored for 8 hours (baby was star gazing, so we were trying all kinds of positions to try and encourage her to turn.) and then unfortunately my cervix started to swell (from 5 cm to 3cm) and baby girls heart rate was declining. The back labor was so intense so Andrew utilized all of the counter pressure positions to help me get relief. At that point, we made the decision to have a C section, not wanting to risk any further complications. It was the hardest decision we have ever made, and definitely emotional. But we focused on the end result and rest our intention in the moment. HypnoBirthing gave us confidence and a way to stay calm and focused, even with this huge turn of events. We were also still able to keep our preferences for after birth, as we had planned.
Hearing our sweet baby girls cry for the first time was a moment we will never forget. Thank you for everything you did to help us learn what we needed to feel empowered and calm throughout our birthing journey!
Meet Liliana Marie, born 11/2/19. 8lbs 6oz and 21 inches"
This couple was asked to share their birth story in class and after a few emails back and forth here is the follow up. This part of their story is sad and needs prayers and positive thoughts, but it is a helpful part to read and see how the practice of hypnobirthing can continue to be used throughout life. They asked that we share this part of their story as well.
“Thank you so much! Liliana has been such a blessing and I am in still in awe of how our bodies were created to birth and care for this tiny human!!! We are honored that you are asking to share our story. Our life is pretty crazy lately, traveling to Lansing every chance we get as my mom has stage four cancer. We are helping take her to appointments and spending time there often. I’ve actually taught her some of our relaxation techniques and about the power of a positive, calm mindset in relation to her healing. It’s amazing to find new uses for the methods you’ve taught us. I seriously can’t thank you enough, you’ve given us the tools to share with others! We are trusting God and doing all we can naturally to help her through it.”
Please pray for this family. It’s a tough journey becoming new parents but even more tough caring for sick parents while navigating parenting your new little yourself. Thank you to our readers and supporters and all of our past students.
